On Sunday 9 August 2026, Nigeria Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho did not waste time to show himself to the Bursaspor fans, as the Nigerian forward provided an assist and scored on his debut during Bursaspor 2:0 win over Bodrum FK in the TFF First League.

Softfootball gathered that Iheanacho opened his goalscoring account in the 27th minute before turning provider in the 45th minute, setting up his teammate Lincoln for the second goal.
Iheanacho’s transfer to Bursaspor was finalized as a free transfer after he officially turned down a contract extension from Celtic.

Despite scoring nine goals across all competitions and helping Celtic secure a Scottish domestic league and cup double, negotiations for a new deal collapsed.
Iheanacho revealed that Bursaspor’s aggressive sporting ambitions to earn promotion back to the Süper Lig and ultimately qualify for European competitions, convinced him to join the Turkish club.
